First Job of the New Nurse

I finally found a job! It's called the OCA-NARS (Outreach Community Advocate Nurses Assigned in Rural Service), which means that I will be doing community nursing for the next 6 months. Am I excited? Yes of course! Now that I would be earning money all by myself, I can buy all of the things that I want and I can also save.

What is more exciting is that I get to meet lots of new people. Since last week, we have been undergoing a training which would equip us with skills and knowledge for our community service. I must say that I am a bit nervous as well because we were told that we would be individually assigned to a specific health center and we should work as the lone community nurse of that barangay. I never worked alone before, considering that we were always in groups when I was still a nursing student. This would be a great challenge that I am willing to take and I hope that things would work out just fine.

Since Philippines is a tropical country, it is more or less always sunny and hot. I am not happy about that certain fact because I get tanned very fast. It only takes 15 minutes of sun exposure before I turn orange and there's nothing I can do about it. Guess I'll just have to wear sunscreen with a high SPF level and sport my white Hard Rock Cafe cap while I do my community duty. Wish me luck!
